This year, Real Men are looking to outfit 120 children with a bike, helmet, bell, and lock. We are excited to be doing this for students at Adelaide Hoodless, a school near our future Gage Park Campus. A Changed Life – Will
Will’s story starts with instability. Split home, constant change, and eight different schools. He learned how to cope by becoming the class clown, but inside he felt like he never had a place to land. Skateboarding gave him community. It gave him identity. Until it didn’t. As life moved on, the culture that once felt like home started pulling people into patterns that only brought more pain. Then a friend named Nathan invited him to Living Hope. Will didn’t want church, but

A Changed Life – Tima
Tima was born in Lagos, Nigeria, and grew up around church, but as he got older it started to feel forced. When he moved away for boarding school in Kenya, and later came to Canada for university, faith faded into the background and life started drifting. This is a story about pressure, identity, and the pull of destructive choices. It’s also a story about how Jesus met Tima when things got real, how God protected him when his path was heading somewhere dark, and how one hone

A Changed Life – Chris
Some of us grew up around church, heard the stories, and still felt like Jesus was distant. Today, you’ll meet Chris. He grew up in Picton, Ontario, and later found himself in a new city as a single dad, carrying a lot on his own and missing the one thing he needed most: real community. This isn’t a polished highlight reel. It’s a real story about struggle, starting over, and what changed when Chris stopped treating faith like information and began building a real relationshi

Here comes the sun
On Sunday, October 16 th , we held a REAL MEN Bikes N’ Burgers event. The ride, 60 kilometers in total, started at Chedoke Golf Course and was broken up mid-way by a barbecue at the Wood’s farm in Lynden. As we started out, there was some talk about the weather and how much rain we might encounter. It was overcast, but whatever was going to come our way, we were determined to reach the Woods’ farm and enjoy some burgers. Heading out along the trails towards Highway 52, we had

REAL MEN Hamilton @ Hess Street Bike Drive
What a great way to head into summer—riding a bike! Last month, 54 students at Hess Street School, from Kindergarten to Grade 8, received a bike, helmet, bell and lock. They are now enjoying getting out and about, around Hamilton, on their new wheels. REAL MEN Hamilton partnered with the Yoe Men Club at Hess Street School to gift bikes to three students from each class throughout the school. It’s all in the Flex!
Picking up from where we left of in my last post, what are some things to consider when purchasing a new hockey stick? Price point, a one piece or a two piece stick, material, flexibility, grip versus clear finish, blade pattern and curve, durability, length, weight… The list goes on. For this post we will focus on one consideration, flexibility. So what is the flex of a hockey stick? It is a number that indicates the amount of pressure in pounds that is required to bend t

Fast, Faster, Fastest…
Hockey is the greatest sport on earth, as far as I’m concerned. It is also the fastest! Just tell me a sport that’s faster? I have started playing ball hockey on Cumberland Ave, in East Hamilton. It’s not quite as fast as ice, but still great fun… and it can get pretty fast! Talking about fast, have you ever found that when you’re trying to blast a shot in ball hockey, you find yourself firing the ball over the net? Well, when shooting a ball, as opposed to a puck, you can’t
